27. What evidence is there for the breakdown of biological control of crown gall disease from use of K84?
A. This phenomena has been observed in field and laboratory trials in Greece, USA, Spain and Italy. The breakdown of biological control is caused by K84 mating (conjugation) with disease agrobacteria which results in a build-up of resistant pathogens. K1026 protects against this breakdown possibility and ensures the long-term use of K1026 for the biological control of crown gall disease.
